US President Donald Trump said that ending the war in Ukraine turned out to be a more difficult task than he expected, and that Russian President Vladimir Putin had disappointed him, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
“He disappointed me. He really disappointed me“, Trump said at a joint press conference with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The president noted that he initially considered the war in Ukraine to be the “easiest“ to resolve of all the conflicts. Despite months of consultations led by Washington, there is no prospect of progress towards a peace agreement, PA media and DPA.
Trump said he had given Putin ultimatums and deadlines to commit to peace proposals that had expired without any visible consequences. “People are dying and that is why I feel obligated to solve the problem“, the American leader added at a press conference at the British Prime Minister's residence in Chequers.
“It is a great honor for me to announce to you that we have found a way out of seven wars, seven wars that were unsolvable, wars that could not be negotiated or resolved“, Trump also said.
The conflict in Ukraine is “the one that I thought would be the easiest to resolve because of my relationship with President Putin, but he has let me down. He has really let me down“, the American president stressed.
