Moscow Speaks: Russia is not seeking a ceasefire, but a long-term solution - 1

Russia does not intend to change its position on the war in Ukraine and remains committed to the principles agreed upon between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump during their lengthy talks in Alaska. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference in Moscow, quoted by TASS.

Lavrov commented on allegations that the war in Ukraine should be stopped at the current line of contact. This demand was contained, in particular, in a statement published today by leading European leaders who attribute this position to the US administration, although there are significant fluctuations in it.

"I want to officially confirm that Russia has not changed its position compared to the agreements reached during the lengthy talks between Putin and Trump in Alaska. These arrangements are based on the agreement reached then, which President Trump laconically formulated when he said that a long-term, sustainable peace is needed, not an immediate ceasefire, which will lead nowhere," Lavrov said at a press conference in Moscow, according to TASS.

"We remain fully committed to this formula, and I confirmed it yesterday in a conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio," Lavrov continued. "So when Washington now starts saying that we should immediately stop, stop discussing anything further, stop and let history judge - you see, simply stopping would mean forgetting the root causes of this conflict, which the US administration, since Donald Trump came to power, has clearly understood and expressed."
