Russia has tested the new nuclear-powered and nuclear-capable cruise missile "Burevestnik", the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, told President Vladimir Putin, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

Gen. Gerasimov said that the missile traveled 14,000 km and was in the air for about 15 hours.

The test was carried out on October 21. The nuclear-powered missile (NASM) made a multi-hour flight, during which it covered a distance of 14,000 kilometers, and this is not its limit. The missile spent about 15 hours in the air, which is also not the "limit" of its capabilities, Gerasimov reported. He emphasized that during the flight all the assigned vertical and horizontal maneuvers were performed, thereby demonstrating the missile's "high capabilities for overcoming missile and air defense systems."

Some time ago, Putin said that the Burevestnik missile The 9M730 (SSC-X-9 Skyfall according to NATO codification) has an unlimited range and its flight trajectory can be unpredictable, making it invulnerable to all current and future missile and air defense systems, Reuters recalls.

At the meeting, Putin, dressed in camouflage uniform, told Gen. Gerasimov that the decisive tests of the "Burevestnik" have been completed and ordered the start of preparation of the infrastructure for the deployment of this weapon in the armed forces.

The president said, quoted by TASS, that Russia's nuclear shield has confirmed its reliability, and also that the Russian nuclear forces are the most modern in the world and fully guarantee the country's security.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited one of the command posts of the joint grouping of troops, the head of state's press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported earlier, quoted by TASS and Reuters.

"The president held a meeting with the participation of the Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov and the commanders of the groups participating in the special military operation (SVO, as Russia calls its actions in Ukraine - ed. ed.). All of them reported in detail to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on the situation on the contact line," the Kremlin spokesman said. "The servicemen presented the Supreme Commander-in-Chief with full information about the situation on the frontline," Peskov added.

Putin identified the preservation of the lives of Russian soldiers as a priority. "The priority task is to ensure the safety of the lives of our servicemen. We talk about this with you constantly, and I know how you yourself relate to it. You are also aware of my approach," he told the meeting.

The president ordered to provide all necessary conditions for the surrender of Ukrainian servicemen in order to minimize casualties.

"In order to minimize unnecessary casualties, I ask you, as we have done with you before, to take comprehensive measures to ensure the surrender of Ukrainian servicemen. Those who, of course, want to do this. "You and I know, you know better than anyone else, that it is not so easy for Ukrainian servicemen, because they shoot in the back and use drones against them, destroying those who try to surrender," he said.

Putin noted the success of the Russian army in surrounding the enemy group in the area of Krasnoarmeys, Dimitrov and Kupyansk.
