Russia and the US did not set specific dates for the postponed summit in Budapest, which is why it is incorrect to talk about "cancellation" of the talks, said Russian President Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin, quoted by BTA.
Let me remind you that there was no specific agreement on any dates for the summit, so claiming that it was canceled is incorrect, Peskov said, quoted by TASS and Reuters.
A Russian-American summit requires serious preparation. The presidents cannot meet solely for the sake of the meeting itself, they cannot simply waste their time, and they openly say so. For this reason, they instructed (foreign ministers) Lavrov and Rubio to prepare this process. The process is complex and it is really necessary to do a lot of "homework" to create the conditions for such a summit, Peskov explained.
