Israeli army: We have ended the strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon - 1

The Israeli army said today that it had ended its strikes on targets of the Lebanese Shiite movement "Hezbollah", supported by Iran, in southern Lebanon, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA

Earlier today, the Israeli military called on residents of several villages in southern Lebanon to evacuate.

"The Israeli army carried out a series of strikes in southern Lebanon against terrorist infrastructure and several weapons depots belonging to "Hezbollah", the armed forces said in a statement.

The Israeli army condemned "Hezbollah" for "continuing its attempts to restore the terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon with the aim of harming the State of Israel," the statement added.

The Lebanese army said the Israeli attacks in the south of the country were aimed at "preventing the completion of the process of deploying its units" in the region, Agence France-Presse reported.

The deployment of Lebanese troops in southern Lebanon was foreseen within the framework of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and the pro-Iranian group "Hezbollah", which came into force a year ago.

"The Israeli enemy launched a large-scale attack in the south, targeting several areas and settlements," the army said in a statement.

The Lebanese Armed Forces condemned the attacks, saying they aimed to "undermine the stability of the country, maintain the threat against the Lebanese people and prevent the completion of the army's deployment in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.".
