US President Donald Trump announced that he expects to distribute dividends to "all Americans" from customs revenues by mid-2026, wrote the AP.
"We will distribute dividends later, sometime before... the middle of next year, a little later than that.
Thousands of dollars to moderate-income people, middle-income people. We will pay off the debts. "We have a lot of money from tariffs," Trump said from the Oval Office.
He had earlier announced the distribution of $2,000 checks, similar to dividends, to Americans using funds from U.S. tariffs.
The mid-2026 deadline puts the payments just months before the midterm elections.
