Canadian PM: We have no major problem with Trump, will resume trade talks with US when appropriate - 1

Canada will resume trade talks with the United States "when appropriate," Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said, noting that there was no pressing issue to discuss with President Donald Trump, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Last month, Trump suspended talks over anti-tariff ad issued by Ontario provincial government.

“We are very busy with the future of Canada and new partnerships. There will be discussions with the president, probably in the next two weeks,“ Carney told reporters on the sidelines of the G20 leaders' meeting in Johannesburg. “We will continue when appropriate.“

Carney reiterated that he is open to dialogue.

“We have no immediate issue to discuss with the president (of the US - ed.) right now. When the US wants to come back and have discussions on trade, we will have those discussions.“
Canada wants an agreement to reduce import tariffs on steel, aluminium and cars imposed by Trump.
