US President Donald Trump has abandoned a deadline set for tomorrow for Ukraine to agree to the US-backed peace plan, Reuters reported.
Trump told reporters aboard the government plane "Air Force One" en route to Florida, where he will celebrate Thanksgiving, that negotiators are making progress in their consultations with Russia and Ukraine and that Moscow has agreed to concessions, but did not specify what they are.
The initial US framework for ending the war has raised new concerns that the Trump administration could force Ukraine to sign a peace deal heavily tilted in Moscow's favor, Reuters reported.
Last week, the US president said he wanted Ukraine to accept the US peace deal by Thursday. "My deadline is when it's all over", Trump said aboard Air Force One today.
He also noted that Russia appears to have the upper hand in the war and that it is in Ukraine's interest to reach an agreement. Some of the territory of Ukraine "will probably be taken over by Russia" in the next few months, Trump also said, adding that negotiations are currently underway with European countries on security guarantees for Ukraine.
