In an interview broadcast today for the Indian television "India Today", Putin described the efforts of his American counterpart Donald Trump to reach a peace agreement as a "complex task and a difficult mission". "Achieving consensus between the parties to the conflict is not easy, but I think President Trump is working sincerely for it," he said.
Earlier today, Putin arrived on his first visit to India, with which Moscow has maintained close ties since Soviet times, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine nearly four years ago.
In the interview, he commented on a number of other issues, taking into account the impasse in relations with the West and once again reiterating his thesis about the historical connection between Russia and Ukraine.
