Saudi Arabia struck Yemeni separatist positions today, they told Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
The separatist group Southern Transitional Council (STC) told the agency that Saudi forces had carried out three strikes. "Saudi air forces bombed positions held by elite units in Wadi Nahb, Hadramaut province," said a post on social media by the "Aden Independent Chain", a separatist-affiliated media outlet.
Saudi authorities have not yet confirmed the strike to AFP.
Earlier this month, the Southern Transitional Council separatists, who were previously supported by the United Arab Emirates, said they had captured the eastern provinces of Hadramaut and Mahra and consolidated their positions in the territories of the former state of South Yemen.
The Southern Transitional Council is a key part of the coalition fighting on the side of the internationally recognized government against Yemeni Houthi rebels.
Saudi Arabia said yesterday that it remained hopeful that the main separatist group in the south of Yemen will end the escalation of tensions.
