Thailand and Cambodia have signed a ceasefire agreement in the border conflict zone, Thai television channel Channel 3 reported.
Following a meeting of the two countries' Joint Border Committee in the Thai province of Chanthaburi, the defense ministers of Thailand and Cambodia, Nattaphon Nakphanit and Thea Seyhi, signed a ceasefire agreement.
A follow-up meeting of the bilateral mechanism to monitor its effectiveness will be held within 72 hours.
The clashes on the Cambodian-Thailand border began on December 7. On December 8, the Thai army reported that Cambodian troops had begun shelling Thai positions in the border area.
In response, the Thai air force attacked Cambodian military infrastructure. Russian embassies in both countries recommended that Russian tourists refrain from visiting border areas.
