German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang were successful, but challenges such as China's overcapacity remain unresolved, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"Above all, there are questions related to competition - China has a large production capacity, which in part is a problem for Europe because it significantly exceeds market demand," he said in Hangzhou at the end of his first visit to China.
"We will have to discuss this in detail after my visit," Merz said, adding that he would suggest that Economy Minister Katharina Reiche also visit China.
