Actor Robert De Niro is a "sick man with a mental disorder", US President Donald Trump said yesterday on his social network "Truth Social", after the famous artist called on Americans to "throw out" the Trump administration in order to "save" USA, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.
"Robert De Niro, suffering from anti-Trump neurosis, is another sick person with a mental disorder, and in my opinion, with an extremely low IQ, who has absolutely no idea what he is doing and saying, some of which is downright CRIMINAL!", Donald Trump wrote in a post in which he also sharply criticized the Somali-born Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar and her colleague and fellow party member from Michigan Rashida Tlaib.
"The good news is that America is now bigger, better, richer and stronger than ever, and that drives them completely crazy," the Republican president added.
The American leader's comments came after an interview with the star of "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" De Niro on the podcast "The Best People", in which the 82-year-old actor calls on Americans to "resist" the Trump administration.
"The stakes are our country, and Trump is destroying it. Who knows what his motives are, but this is unhealthy. We have to save the country," the film legend said in the interview.
In May last year, during the Cannes Film Festival, the actor from the "The Godfather" film series already called for "defending democracy" from the actions of the American president, whom he described as "uneducated".
