The Israeli army said today that the underground military bunker of the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was attacked by approximately 50 fighter jets, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
"A short while ago, approximately 50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets, guided by precise intelligence data from the Israeli Armed Forces, struck Ali Khamenei's underground bunker in Tehran," the Israeli Armed Forces said in a statement.
The Israeli forces said that the bunker was being used as a base for military activities.
The bunker is believed to extend under several streets and has several entrances, and according to the Israeli army, the attack on it "further reduced the regime's capacity in terms of command and control".
Witnesses in Tehran reported loud explosions and strong tremors that were felt in many residential buildings.
