After toppling Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro with a daring operation to kidnap and behead the Iranian leadership at the beginning of the week-long US-Israeli air war, US President Donald Trump said that the next target of his administration's regime change campaign is a close enemy that has resisted such efforts for almost seven decades, Focus writes.
In an interview with CNN on Friday, the president said that in his opinion his administration is close to overthrowing the communist government that has ruled Cuba, a Caribbean island 90 miles off the coast of Florida, since 1959.
"Cuba will fall very soon", said the US president who spoke by phone with the correspondent of the American television Dana Bash in a brief interview aimed at highlighting U.S. military successes in the six days since U.S. and Israeli warplanes launched an air campaign that has plunged the Middle East into chaos and left Tehran scrambling to choose a new supreme leader after an early bombing killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the country's longtime de facto head of state.
"They want to make a deal, so I'm going to send Marco Rubio over there and we'll see how it goes. We're really focused on that right now. We've got plenty of time, but Cuba is ready - in 50 years," Trump continued.
"We've been watching them for 50 years and they fell into our hands because of me... and we're doing very well."
