Germany on Iran conflict: No military solution - 1

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said that it was unrealistic to expect a controlled regime change in Iran, adding that the conflict could not be resolved only by military means, Reuters reported.

"There is no military solution. And controlled regime change is, I would say, only a hypothetical possibility that is unrealistic", he said in the presence of his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot at an event organized by the ZEIT media group. "So chaos in Iran is just as bad (option) as the regime, so it is not in our interest and in the interest of the region and, of course, not in the interest of the people who live in Iran."

Earlier today, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said that the war has been effectively won, but its ultimate goals have not yet been achieved. Israel's top diplomat added that the only one who can overthrow the regime is the Iranian people, which, according to Reuters, was an indirect admission that for now, there is no change in the political system in the Islamic Republic on the horizon.

One of Israel's declared goals of the war was precisely to create conditions for the Iranian people to rise up against their rulers and take power into their own hands.
