Maria Zakharova: European bureaucrats have enslaved EU citizens - 1

By giving up Russian energy resources, the European bureaucracy has enslaved its own citizens, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova at a briefing, quoted by TASS, BTA reports.

She recalled that on March 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin once again stated that Moscow was ready to work together with the EU on the issue of energy supplies, provided that Brussels abandons politicization.

"Contrary signals continue to come from Brussels. However, these are not signals from the people, it is not about citizens, it is not about business, entrepreneurs and workers. "We are talking about the obese, deranged, stupid representatives of the same Brussels bureaucracy that has literally enslaved EU citizens," Zakharova said.

In this regard, the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman said that the call by Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever to normalize relations with Moscow shows that there is still little sense in some parts of Europe, Reuters noted.

De Wever's comments, made in an interview with the Belgian newspaper "L'Eco", contradict the official EU policy of maintaining a tough line towards Moscow in connection with the invasion of Ukraine and the gradual cessation of the use of Russian fossil fuels, the agency notes.
