The United States' transition to diplomacy in the military conflict in Iran, along with a ceasefire, creates additional opportunities for ending conflicts and strengthening security. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address on Telegram, quoted by "Ukrinform".
"Today, the United States turned to diplomacy in the situation around Iran, and the world supports this. A ceasefire always creates more space for diplomacy and should precede a real end to the war," he said.
The president stressed that Ukraine has followed a similar approach from the very beginning in Russia's war against Ukraine.
"Of course, this is not easy to implement, and additional efforts are still needed in the Middle East to stabilize the ceasefire so that it is preserved. But ultimately, the goal for everyone should be the same - greater security," the head of state stressed.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine is ready to respond in kind if Russia stops its strikes.
He also called the ceasefire in the Middle East the right decision.
