Tehran: We will block all trade in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea if the US blockade continues - 1

Iran will not allow the development of trade activities through the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, as well as in the Red Sea, if the US continues the naval blockade of the ports of the Islamic Republic, said General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the "Khatam al-Anbiya" Central Headquarters of the Iranian armed forces, world agencies reported, quoted by BTA.

"If the aggressive and terrorist America continues its illegal actions in organizing the maritime blockade in the region and creates a threat to the security of Iranian merchant ships and oil tankers, these actions of the US may lead to a violation of the ceasefire agreement, and the armed forces of Iran will not allow the passage of import and export supplies through the Persian and Oman Gulfs, as well as in the Red Sea", emphasized General Ali Abdollahi, quoted by the Iranian news agency "Mehr".

"Iran will act decisively to protect its sovereignty and national interests", added Abdollahi.

Iran does not border the Red Sea, but it can rely on the allied Houthi rebel group in Yemen, which has threatened to attack vessels in this region, notes France Presse.
