Zakharova: New EU sanctions will have serious consequences for global energy markets - 1

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that the new restrictions on energy carriers included in the 20th package of sanctions by the European Union against Russia will have serious consequences against the backdrop of a global shortage of energy resources, Reuters reports, quoted by BTA.

The EU adopted the new sanctions package in connection with the war in Ukraine after Slovakia and Hungary withdrew their veto after the resumption of Russian oil supplies through the Druzhba oil pipeline.

According to Zakharova, the new measures will have the strongest impact on developing countries, which are already finding it difficult to buy energy resources at higher prices. She added that fertilizer restrictions also pose a risk to global food security.

Moscow also said that Russia would take "firm" retaliatory action against the European Union.

Meanwhile, the state-owned "Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company" announced that five tankers owned by Azerbaijan had been excluded from the scope of the new EU sanctions package against Russia.
