US attacked island in Strait of Hormuz - 1

The Iranian news agencies Fars and Tasnim reported this evening about US strikes on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, Agence France-Presse reported. AFP notes that this happened after the resumption of military actions between the US and Iran, BTA reported.

The governor of the southern Iranian province of Hormozgan, which has access to the Strait of Hormuz, reported that US missiles fell in several places in the area of Qeshm Island at around 6:00 p.m. (17:30 Bulgarian time) today.

The spokesman for the Iranian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Mohammad Akramini, stressed the crucial role of Iran's strategy for controlling the Strait of Hormuz, stating that the Iranian armed forces will neutralize US interventions in the region, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported, quoted by BTA.

“Undoubtedly, resistance against the enemies will continue and Iran will neutralize US interventions in the region“, said Gen. Akraminia.

“The Americans assumed that by attacking some bases on the southern coast of the country, they would be able to gain control over this strategic strait“, he noted, adding that at the same time Iran is capable of exercising control over the Strait of Hormuz from any point on its territory.

Touching upon the consequences of the US presence in the region, he stated that the countries that provided US bases are today paying a high price in terms of trade and security.

“Security entrusted to external factors is not sustainable. True security is achieved when the countries of the region, without the presence of foreigners, ensure stability and peace for themselves“, reiterated Gen. Akraminia. "If the enemy insists on continuing these actions, Iran has a capacity that has not been used so far and can affect the situation in the region," he warned.

Iran will not allow the United States to interfere in the Strait of Hormuz, a spokesman for the Iranian Supreme Military Command said today, quoted by Reuters and Agence France-Presse. Iran defines this as a “red line”, Reuters adds.

Tehran will attack infrastructure throughout the region if US President Donald Trump carries out his threats to attack Iranian infrastructure, the spokesman warned.

“All infrastructure in the region will be crushed under the strong blows of the powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to the point that not a trace of it will remain, as if it never existed”, the Joint Command of the Armed Forces of Iran said in a statement, responding to the threats made by the US president, writes Agence France-Presse.
