Donald Trump called "animals" immigrants who are in the United States illegally. In a speech in Michigan, he resorted to the humiliating rhetoric he used more than once during his election campaign, reported "Reuters", quoted by BTA.
"Democrats say, "Please don't call them animals, they are people.'' I said, 'No, they're not people, they're not people, they're animals,'" said Trump, who was president from 2017-2021.
During his campaign speeches, Trump often claimed that immigrants crossing the Mexican border illegally escaped prisons in their home countries and fueled violent crime in the United States.
Although available data on the immigration status of criminals is scarce, researchers say people living in the U.S. illegally do not commit violent crimes at a higher rate than native-born citizens.
