Russia, which is terrorizing Kharkiv with attacks from the sky, may try to capture this city. And the probability of this is almost one hundred percent. However, there is one huge BUT. If the Russian aggressor attacks Kharkiv, it will become vulnerable in other areas of the front.
This opinion was expressed in an interview for OBOZ.ua by the veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war and reserve major of the ZSU Oleksiy Hetman. According to him, for the offensive against Kharkiv, the Russian army needs nearly 300,000 soldiers.
For this purpose, it will be necessary to transfer to Kharkiv the majority of the forces and means that are today scattered along the entire front line. And this will lead to the exposure of the front and give the opportunity for a counter-offensive of the Ukrainian forces. Hetman pointed out that war is like a game of chess and there are many unknowns.
Hetman warned Ukrainians that they should be prepared for the worst case scenario if Western countries do not help Kiev with weapons and ammunition. In the event of the most negative development of events in terms of military aid from the Allies, the option of losing the war is theoretically possible, he said.
Olexii Hetman stated that the Russians are attacking along the entire front, but the fiercest to date are the attacks on Chasov Yar. “If we take into account the reports of official sources, the General Staff, the Main Directorate of Intelligence, the President of Ukraine, then the fiercest battles are currently taking place in Chasov Yar. The Russians are releasing information that this settlement has already been captured, but we are destroying them,” said the Ukrainian military. According to him, the Russians want to capture this city, because there is an important railway line to the northwest of it, which is logistically important for the ZSU.
Olexii Hetman also commented on Volodymyr Zelensky's words that if Ukraine does not receive Western aid, it may lose the war: “I think this is a reality because the Supreme Commander has information, including secret information. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief's staff meets periodically, where relevant reports are made. Therefore, the president concludes that without the help of the United States, everything can end in defeat. Such words are not said just like that. If he said that, then everything is much more serious.
