Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov stated that the condition set by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for a conversation with Vladimir Putin does not correspond to reality.
Earlier, the German chancellor said that he is ready to hold a dialogue only after the Kremlin understands the need to withdraw troops and stop hostilities in Ukraine.
„He says things that reflect Western doctrine”, Pushkov said, “but they do not fit into reality”.
According to the senator, two years ago such statements could be explained by an incorrect assessment of the balance of power, but today they have no basis. “ Rather, Scholz will cease to be chancellor”, Pushkov added.
Ukraine has announced that it will negotiate with the Russian aggressor only after the withdrawal of all Russian troops from the occupied territories, but according to Moscow, this request does not correspond to reality and must be taken into account what is happening on the front. Russia currently occupies nearly 1/5 of Ukraine, including the Crimean Peninsula.
