Germany will provide another air defense system "Patriot" (Patriot) to Ukraine to strengthen its defense against Russia, announced the German Ministry of Defense, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.
The system will be taken from the stocks of the German armed forces and handed over immediately, the department said. "Russian terror against Ukrainian cities and the country's infrastructure is causing immeasurable suffering," Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said in a statement.
Germany has so far delivered two systems "Patriot" in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Defense, the system has proven itself in combat against Russian aggression.
The delivery should be seen in the context of intensive joint efforts by Pistorius and Foreign Minister Analena Berbok to convince the country's partners to provide Ukraine with more air defense systems, DPA commented.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky thanked Germany for sending the Patriot system. "at a critical moment," reported Reuters. "Productive conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. I call on all other leaders of partner countries to follow this example," Zelensky said in his post on the Telegram application.
