Beijing has warned of worsening relations with USA today, on the last day of the visit of Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to China, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
Although the two sides are talking to each other again, the “negative factors” in relations between the US and China have increased, said China's top diplomat Wang Yi. He cited as one of the reasons the “unreasonable suppression” of China's right to develop.
According to him, the two countries are faced with the question of whether their relations will stabilize or slide on a downward plane.
According to American media, Blinken has stated that in some areas progress has been made to overcome the differences between the two countries. However, he wanted to express clearly and directly the issues on which Washington has disagreements with Beijing.
During yesterday's talks with Shanghai Party Secretary Chen Jingning, Blinken discussed disagreements with China over unfair trade practices, US press reports said. During his three-day visit to China, Blinken also met with students and American business representatives in Shanghai.
After a year of complete radio silence, US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping met in person last November near San Francisco to stabilize strained relations. Since then, however, new disputes on political and economic issues continue to brew, DPA recalls.
