The conflict in Ukraine threatens to reach a new, more serious level. This week, the Russian Defense Ministry announced exercises for the use of tactical nuclear weapons, and the Foreign Ministry warned that any F-16 in Ukrainian airspace would be perceived as carrying a nuclear weapon with the appropriate conclusions.
Military expert and former US Army officer Stanislav Krapyvnik told mk.ru that in the event of a nuclear war, NATO would hit St. Petersburg because it is close to the Baltic countries and Finland.
In his words, the United States has many tactical nuclear weapons that can be used against Russia.
„The thing is, as soon as you start using nuclear weapons, the brakes stop working. There is no need to delude yourself into believing that the countries will use one bomb. You lose control very quickly. The sides then destroy each other at lightning speed. From the first low-powered strike to ending with Armageddon, it can take only a few hours or a few days,” the military expert said.
