Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the capital Kyiv, reported SIR (Servizio Informazione Religiosa ).
This is Parolin's first visit to the Ukrainian capital since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"We discussed the consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the current aerial terror, the difficult humanitarian situation and the results of our meeting with Pope Francis in June in Italy,”, Zelensky said after the meeting with Parolin.
"We focused in particular on the decisions taken at the first peace summit and on the role of the Vatican in establishing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine,” he added.
"I am grateful to Cardinal Parolin for the support for our country and our people,”, Zelensky also said.
