The Conservative Party of Canada posted a video on social network X of a speech by its leader Pierre Poalievre, in the framework of which he spoke about fighter jets carrying out a training mission and preparing to "protect our home and native land”. The video was later deleted, with a Conservative spokeswoman admitting that "mistakes happen”.
The ruling Liberal Party of Canada quickly reacted to this blunder, accusing its opponents of being "soft on Russia", the media added. "Amazingly, Poalievre's dream... includes Russian Su-17 and, I believe, Su-27 fighters flying over our glorious prairies as part of a 'training mission,'" said a press release from the Canadian minister's office of defense Bill Blair.
