Today Russia struck one of the most massive strikes on Ukraine, using more than 100 different missiles and about 100 Shahed drones, said the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, quoted by Ukrinform, BTA reported.
In an address published by the press service of the presidential office, Zelensky emphasizes that efforts are now being made throughout the country to overcome the consequences of the Russian strike.
The president described the strikes as some of the worst. "More than 100 missiles of various types and about 100 Shahed drones were used." And like most previous Russian strikes, this one was just as malicious and targeted against important civilian infrastructure," he says, stressing that most of Ukraine's regions were affected.
"Unfortunately, people were killed. My condolences to the families and friends of all of them. There are dozens of injured people and all of them are receiving the necessary support," Zelensky adds.
"There is a lot of damage to the energy sector. But wherever there are power outages, recovery is already underway. Our emergency teams will be working around the clock. We will restore the power supply", adds Zelensky.
"And it is essential that our partners fulfill everything we have agreed upon with them. Air defense systems, missiles for them. And we must also finally proceed to collectively shoot down Russian missiles and drones. Today they were directed at targets in Volyn, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. Vinnytsia and Khmelnytskyi regions, as well as our Ternopil region. In our various Ukrainian regions, we could do much more to protect human life if our European neighbors worked alongside our (fighter) “F-16“ and alongside our air defenses. If such synergy works so clearly in the Middle East, it should work in Europe as well. Life has the same value everywhere," Zelensky said.
In the statement, the president of Ukraine adds that "Putin remains true to himself – a sick being; this has been clear to everyone for a long time. But it is also clear that he can only do what the world allows him to do. Weakness and indecision in response fuel terror. And every leader, every partner of ours knows what hard decisions are needed to end this war – and to end justly".
"There should be no restrictions on the range of weapons for Ukraine, while terrorists have no such restrictions. Defenders of life should have no gun restrictions while Russia uses all its weapons as well as drones “Shahed“ and ballistic missiles from North Korea. The United States, the United Kingdom, France and other partners have the power to help us stop terror. We need solutions", concludes Zelensky.
