Russian Armed Forces have launched a major counteroffensive against Ukrainian troops who entered the western part of Russia a month ago, and have regained some territories, Reuters reported, citing data from pro-Russian military bloggers, BTA reported.
On August 6, Ukraine launched its biggest attack on Russia since World War II, crossing the border into the Kursk region with thousands of troops backed by drones and heavy weaponry, including Western.
Yuriy Podolyak, a Ukrainian-born pro-Russian military blogger, as well as the influential blogs “Ribar“ and “Two Majors”, reported that Russian forces had launched a significant counter-offensive in the Kursk region. “In the Kursk region, the Russian army began counter-offensive actions on the western flank of the enemy wedge, reducing the Ukrainian-controlled area near the state border,” reported the blog “Dva Majora”.
Podolyaka said Russian forces had taken control of several villages in the western part of Russian territory that Ukraine had seized, pushing Ukrainian forces east of the Malaya Loknya River. Reuters reports that it was unable to independently verify the data provided due to restrictions on coverage of the fighting imposed by both sides of the conflict.
