Russia rejects "victory plan" of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as an attempt to keep the West on his side and said that this had nothing to do with the search for diplomatic or political solutions to the conflict, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
Zelensky announced on Wednesday that after a series of consultations he had developed a plan, but that he would release details later. On Tuesday, the Ukrainian president and his American counterpart, Joe Biden, are expected to make statements to the UN Security Council.
Zelensky explained that his initiative aims to create conditions acceptable to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters that the plan appeared to be a self-serving move by the Ukrainian leader, whom Moscow accuses of trying to draw the West into a full-scale war against Russia.
"The only goal is to prevent the disintegration of the anti-Russian coalition, and this, of course, has nothing to do with the task of finding a political and diplomatic solution to the situation around Ukraine," said Zakharova. She reiterated Moscow's position that the West should stop providing Kiev with financial and military aid and stressed that any initiative purportedly aimed at a peaceful solution is meaningless without Russia's participation.
