The European Union and other countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Japan have called for an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, reported SIR (Servizio Informazione Religiosa).
„The situation between Lebanon and Israel poses an unacceptable risk of a wider regional escalation. "This is not in anyone's interest, neither the people of Israel nor the people of Lebanon," the statement said.
„It is time to conclude a diplomatic agreement that allows civilians on both sides of the border to return safely to their homes,” the parties urge.
„We call for an immediate 21-day ceasefire along the border between Lebanon and Israel to give space to diplomacy to reach a diplomatic agreement in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the implementation of the Security Council UN Security Council Resolution 2735 on a cease-fire in Gaza”, the statement read.
„We are ready to fully support all diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement between Lebanon and Israel within this period, building on the efforts of recent months to end this crisis completely,” the parties urged.
