Ukrainian military conscription officials raided restaurants, bars and a concert hall in Kiev, checking military registration documents and detaining men who violated the requirements, local media reported, cited by the Associated Press, BTA writes .
According to these reports, the officers stormed the hall of the Palace of Sports in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv after Friday's concert by the Ukrainian rock group "Ocean Elzy". Videos aired by local media showed Ukrainian conscription officers stationed outside the concert hall doors meeting men leaving the concert. The footage shows the officers detaining some men by force.
Inspections were also carried out in the luxury shopping center "Goodwine" in the capital and the popular Kyiv restaurant "Avalon".
Such actions in the Ukrainian capital are unusual and reflect Ukraine's dire need for new recruits for the army. All Ukrainian men aged 25 to 60 are subject to conscription, and men aged 18 to 60 are not allowed to leave the country, AP notes.
According to local reports, searches were also carried out in clubs and restaurants in other Ukrainian cities, including Kharkiv and Dnipro in eastern and central Ukraine.
