Ukrainian intelligence believes that soon over 10,000 North Korean soldiers may enter the war against Ukraine on the side of Vladimir Putin. If this is justified, it is not excluded that Pyongyang will send another 100,000 of its soldiers.
This was stated to UNIAN by military expert and former commander of the “Aidar“ battalion; Yevgeny Dikiy. According to the Ukrainian military, NATO is helping Russia win the war with its inaction, turning a blind eye to the fact that the army of a third country is entering the war.
“The appearance of units of the North Korean army in Ukraine is clear evidence, even for stupid people, that the so-called policy of “non-escalation“ pursued by our allies is absolutely wrong“, pointed out Dikiy.“
“In fact, the situation is quite serious. After all, the Korean infantry is potentially very high-quality cannon fodder“, said the Ukrainian expert. According to him, it is no problem for Kim Jong-un to provide Putin with a 100,000-strong army. The initial 10,000 soldiers to be sent to the front will be a sort of “test”.
Evgeny Dikiy also said that North Korean soldiers cannot refuse an order to be sent to Ukraine because they know that their families in North Korea will be repressed and arrested if they do so. In addition, North Korean soldiers are more disciplined than Russians and are unpretentious in terms of climate and food.
They will largely be used as cannon fodder. And they would hardly surrender to the Ukrainian army at the front, because their families could be sent to concentration camps.
The Russian Federation will dress them in Russian uniforms and wants to present to the world that these are actually mercenaries who almost voluntarily enlisted in the Russian army. This is not true and we are talking about the regular army of a third country. “That is, this is actually the entry of another country into the war in Ukraine. This is something that even Belarus avoided“, said Dikiy.
“Since the Cold War, there has been a certain consensus that the participation of advisers and technical specialists is not considered direct participation in the war. It is not written into laws, but de facto it has been there for half a century. But the appearance of thousands of infantry units is a completely different story. This is precisely the direct entry into the hostilities“, said the Ukrainian military expert. So far, Iran and North Korea have sent their military-technical experts to monitor the use of their weapons by the Russian army. But the entry of thousands of soldiers into Putin's infantry would be direct participation in the war.
