Ukraine says it has carried out airstrikes on a Russian military airport - 1

Ukrainian forces attacked the infrastructure of a military airport in Russia's Lipetsk region and an explosives manufacturing plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region, Reuters reported as referred to the General Staff of the army in Kiev.

Russian authorities have also confirmed in Telegram channels that these areas have been the target of a nighttime drone attack. The Ukrainian General Staff added that it was still investigating the extent of the damage.

Russia shot down 110 Ukrainian drones last night over the Moscow region and a number of other regions, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced earlier today, as quoted by the agencies.

In a message on the social network "Telegram" the agency said air defense intercepted 43 drones over the Kursk region, where in August Ukrainian forces launched an offensive to divert Moscow's forces from other fronts.

Twenty-seven drones were shot down over Lipetsk region, 18 over Orelsk and one over Moskovska; a total of 21 were destroyed over Nizhny Novgorod, Belgorod and Bryansk regions, the statement added. During the attack in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the target of which was an industrial zone in the city of Dzerzhinsk, four firefighters were injured by shrapnel, regional governor Gleb Nikitin reported in Telegram. The district is located about 400 km east of Moscow.

Russia reports downing Ukrainian drones over its territory almost daily, but usually in smaller numbers. Kiev says it is carrying out the strikes, which often target energy sites, in response to Russian shelling of Ukraine.
