Corruption scandal in Kyiv! The Prosecutor General of Ukraine has resigned - 1

The Chief prosecutor of Ukraine Andriy Kostin resigned, his office announced.

"Today, the President of Ukraine held a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council regarding the apparently immoral situation of false disability of civil servants. "Many shameful facts of abuse have been found in Ukraine's prosecution system," Kostin said in a statement quoted by the BBC.

"I am grateful to the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their trust. But in this situation, I consider it right to announce the release of the chief prosecutor", he added.

Earlier today, Costin spoke about the first results of an internal investigation into disability cases by the prosecutor's office. He stated that in Khmelnytskyi region 61 prosecutors are disabled. 61 prosecutors are disabled.

"It is very important to find out under what circumstances they received a disability, since the share of such employees in Khmelnytskyi region is very high. I believe that all questionable prosecutors should voluntarily submit to re-examination. So far, this has not been done within the framework of criminal proceedings," Kostin said.

"The large-scale internal investigation affects not only the Khmelnytskyi prosecutors, but also all the prosecutor's offices - all levels, including the Prosecutor General's Office - and is extremely important for the entire system,'' said the announcement of the Prosecutor General's Office.
