The question of creating its own nuclear weapons will become relevant if Ukraine is denied membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) or is forced to capitulate to Russia. This is stated by the military expert Mikhail Samus on the air "Espresso".
"It is not about the quality of the nuclear bomb. The question is purely political and strategic. If Ukraine is invited to NATO and will not be left in the "gray zone”, in this troubled world, then we do not need nuclear weapons,” the expert pointed out.
According to him, if Ukraine is brought into the "gray zone", because it is claimed that the invitation to join the Alliance is impossible, if Kiev is forced to capitulate and hand over the Ukrainian territories to Russia, in such a situation Ukraine should proceed from the national your interests.
"This concerns the survival, the existence of the Ukrainian nation. Then the question of whether or not to make us use nuclear weapons will no longer be on the agenda. We have to survive and it will be necessary to create tools that, in the conditions when we will be in the buffer zone between NATO and Russia, I have to take all kinds of measures. And in this regard, nuclear weapons are one of the tools”, says Samus.
At the same time, he specified that this issue is not on the agenda at all, as Ukraine has every opportunity to integrate into the Euro-Atlantic space.
Samus believes that Ukraine is a very desirable partner when it comes to "European strategic autonomy”.
