Kiev: Look at Syria, Putin doesn't have the strength to fight on two fronts - 1

< p>The collapse in Syria on the attack of rebel groups shows that Moscow cannot fight on two fronts, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said today, while reiterating that Kiev is not involved in the fighting there.

"We see that Russia cannot fight on two fronts - this is clear from the events in Syria,” said a spokesperson of the ministry, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.

The spokesman again said that Ukraine is not involved in the fighting in Syria. Similar accusations have been made by Iran, another ally of President Bashar al-Assad. According to Tehran, Ukraine supports rebel groups that Iran defines as terrorist.

Ukraine categorically and resolutely rejects any accusations of our alleged involvement in the deterioration of the security situation in Syria, the spokesman said.

Assad's government has managed to retain control over a large part of the country after years of fierce fighting. Last week, however, the rebels launched a lightning offensive, which resulted in the capture of two major cities and vast territories.

Russia's significant losses in Ukraine have prompted Moscow to withdraw most of its troops and equipment from Syria, leaving its ally without the necessary support, the Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman said.
