Friendly fire! North Korean soldiers killed eight Chechen fighters from Akhmat - 1

North Korean soldiers opened fire on the Chechen detachment "Akhmat" in the Kursk region, killing eight servicemen. The Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced this, the BILD newspaper reports.

According to the GRU, "eight soldiers from the Chechen division of the Russian army were killed as a result of friendly fire".

The incident occurred on December 14 due to the language barrier between the Russian and North Korean troops, which, as noted in the report, remains a serious obstacle on the battlefield.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that a significant number of North Korean soldiers were participating in Russian offensive operations in the region.

The first reports of North Korean soldiers being sent to Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine appeared in October. In early November, Ukraine first reported their participation in military operations.
