The European Commission ruled out the possibility of significant consequences from today's suspension of Russian gas transit through Ukraine, stating that this was expected and the European Union was prepared, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"European gas transmission infrastructure is flexible enough to provide gas of non-Russian origin to Central and Eastern Europe via other routes", an EC spokesperson said today.
"Since 2022, we have strengthened our network with significant new options for importing liquefied natural gas," the European Commission added.
