Ukraine has carried out an attack on the TurkStream gas pipeline, the Russian Defense Ministry reports - 1

Ukraine has carried out an attack on part of the infrastructure of the "TurkStream" gas pipeline, attempting to damage a compressor station in the Krasnodar Krai, the Russian Defense Ministry (MO) reports, Reuters reports, quoted by News.bg.

According to an official statement from the MO, Russia has shot down nine Ukrainian drones that attempted to attack the facility. No casualties or major damage were reported as a result of the attack.

The statement specifies that falling fragments from one drone caused minor damage to the building and equipment of a gas metering station, with emergency teams quickly repairing the damage.

Despite the official information from the Russian side, "Reuters" cannot confirm the incident, and Ukraine has not yet made an official statement on the matter.

The "Turkish Stream" and "Blue Stream" pipelines, which run along the Black Sea to Turkey, are major routes for delivering Russian gas to Europe. Ukraine refused to renew a transit agreement with Russia earlier this year that allowed gas to pass through its territory despite the ongoing war.

The "Turkish Stream" pipeline starts at the "Russkaya" compressor station near Anapa and continues through Turkey to deliver gas to Europe. Compressor stations play a key role in stabilizing gas pressure and flow.

The attack is part of a wider military campaign by Ukraine, which on January 11 struck Russian targets in annexed Crimea, Krasnodar Krai and Rostov Oblast. Air raid sirens were sounded as a result of the strikes in Anapa.
