Russian troops have entered the territory of Sumy region in an attempt to surround the Ukrainian bridgehead in Kursk region. This is reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts cite geolocation footage published on January 10. A video from the 67th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces shows strikes against Russian infantry. According to ISW, the footage was filmed on the Ukrainian side of the border northwest of the village of Zhuravka.
The analysts also cite a Russian blogger who claims that Russian troops have entered Sumy Oblast to bypass Ukrainian positions in the Nikolaevo-Darino area (north of Zhuravka) from the south.
Another Russian channel claims that Russian troops have entered Sumy Oblast and near the village of Prokhodi (east of the city of Sumy), but the IASC has not found confirmation of this claim.
