The US has threatened China with "other measures" if it does not stop "cheating and stealing" - 1

The US may not limit itself to imposing tariffs on China and announce new measures aimed at Beijing, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Fox News.

He said that new steps would be taken if China continues to "cheating and stealing".

On February 1, Trump signed an order imposing tariffs on goods imported from Canada, China and Mexico. According to the document, 25% tariffs will be imposed on imports from Mexico and Canada (10% for Canadian energy resources). Additional tariffs of 10% are being imposed on goods from China.

Trump later suspended tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada for a month after Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to deploy 10,000 Mexican soldiers to the U.S. border to step up the fight against illegal immigration and drug trafficking, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged to continue strengthening the border with the United States, including to stop the flow of the drug fentanyl into the United States.

Canada, China and Mexico account for a third of all goods and services imported by the United States. In 2023 The three countries' combined exports to the United States were nearly $1.5 trillion.

US President Donald Trump confirmed that the US administration would suspend tariffs on Canadian goods for 30 days in order to reach a trade deal with the country.

“I am very pleased with this initial result and the tariffs announced on Saturday will be suspended for 30 days to see if a final economic agreement can be reached with Canada. Fairness for all“, he wrote on Truth Social on Monday.

Canada intends to continue strengthening its border with the United States, including to block the flow of supplies of the narcotics fentanyl to the United States. According to Trudeau, Ottawa will allocate 1.3 billion Canadian dollars (about $900 million) for these purposes. Canada will also designate drug cartels as terrorist organizations. Ottawa will allocate an additional 200 million Canadian dollars ($137 million) to combat organized crime along the US border.

The State Department is not negotiating with the Canadian government about including it in the US as the 51st state, Rubio also said.

"Right now, we are focused on something that is most important to us, which is the price we pay, and that will obviously have an impact on our relationship. We will still be neighbors,“ Rubio added.

Trump has previously expressed the opinion that many Canadians would prefer their country to become the 51st state of the United States. He argued that this would bring economic stability to Canada and protect it from external threats, mainly from Russia and China. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been adamant that this will never happen.

Marco Rubio also said that there is a need to increase pressure on Iran.

“We need to put more pressure on Iran until they stop their current actions, which are ultimately aimed at developing a nuclear weapon,“ Rubio said in an interview with Fox News on Monday.

In mid-January, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian told NBC News that Tehran is not pursuing the goal of creating a nuclear weapon.
