Russian intelligence foils Ukraine-orchestrated bomb attack in Moscow - 1

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) said today that it had foiled a bomb attack in Moscow planned by Ukrainian intelligence services, DPA reported.

A Russian citizen born in 1972 was detained while planting a bomb with five kilograms of explosives in a hidden location, the FSB reported.

Russian domestic intelligence said that the man was hired by Ukrainian secret services and was offered to detonate a bomb in an administrative building in the Russian capital. In return, he received $10,000 and a visa to Ukraine, the FSB said.

The Federal Security Service regularly reports such "successful actions," which are difficult to verify, DPA notes.

The attacks by Ukrainian secret services on Russian territory are part of Kiev's defense against a full-scale Russian invasion. In December, a high-ranking Russian military officer was killed in Moscow with a remotely detonated bomb, the agency recalls.
