The authorities in Eastern Australia officially announced today at least four victims of floods in this part of the country, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
Police in the Australian state of New South Wales announced that the body of a man was found early this morning in a car flooded by a flood near the city of Coffs Harbour.
It was announced yesterday that there were at least two victims, and two people were missing.
Heavy rains have caused catastrophic flooding along the eastern Australian coast, with the northeastern region of New South Wales being the most affected.
The state emergency service reported that it expects the rains to decrease in the course of today, but warned that the danger of flooding had not passed.
Assistant Police Commissioner Colin Malone said more than 600 life-saving operations had been carried out.
"There could be a new surge of water masses", he warned, specifying that about 50,000 people were stranded by the floods.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Premier of the state of New South Wales, Chris Means, are expected to visit the most affected by the floods today, the DPA noted.
