US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin was probably deliberately delaying ceasefire talks in Ukraine and expressed disappointment over Russian airstrikes, Reuters reported.
"We will find out whether he is trying to play us or not, and if he is, we will respond a little differently", Trump told reporters in the Oval Office.
However, he showed hesitation regarding the possible imposition of new sanctions against Russia, Reuters noted. "If I think I'm close to making a deal, I don't want to screw it up by doing this", the US president stressed.
Regarding the war in the Gaza Strip, Trump said that last week he warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to take any action that could hinder nuclear negotiations with Iran.
"I told him that it would not be appropriate for him to do anything right now because we are very close to a solution", Trump said, adding that "that could change at any moment".
He also indicated that his administration was working to speed up the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, the US president said that any deal that would save the social network "TikTok" from being banned in the US would look different from the expected deal between Japan's "Nippon Steel" and "US Steel", and the agreement must be approved by China.
Trump also expressed his dissatisfaction with some parts of the tax bill and said he would negotiate on them.
Earlier, billionaire Elon Musk criticized the law, saying it contradicted his efforts to reduce the US budget deficit.
