In some parts of Spain, heat reigns with temperatures of almost 40 degrees Celsius, which is unusual for the end of this month of May, and several cities set temperature records for this time of year, DPA reported, BTA reported.
The national meteorological service of Spain AEMET today reported on the social platform "Ex" that temperatures of 35 to 39 degrees were recorded in several cities yesterday. In contrast, Cadiz recorded a temperature close to the seasonal one - 24.4 degrees.
The second-highest warning level for the danger of high temperatures has been issued for the area of the city of Seville in the autonomous region of Andalusia. The orange code "serious risk" for health, especially for children and people with illnesses.
High temperatures were also recorded in the capital Madrid and Zaragoza. On the other hand, temperatures in the popular holiday islands were moderate: on the island of Mallorca, 28 degrees were recorded, and on the Canary Islands - 25 degrees.
AEMET predicts that the early heat wave will last at least until Sunday. In the north, it could be accompanied by heavy hail and gusty winds.
