Russian troops are advancing in three districts of Sumy region and are trying to approach the regional center with the help of artillery and cannons. This is stated in the latest report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), RBC-Ukraine reports.

It is noted that Russian troops are intensifying attempts to expand the front line in the northern part of Sumy region in three offensive directions north and northeast of the city of Sumy.

Video footage with geolocation, published on June 2, shows that the Russians have recently advanced north of the village of Andreevka (north of Sumy) and northeast of the village of Yablunivka (northeast of Sumy).

According to Russian military bloggers, the Russian army has recently captured Oleksiyevka, Novomykhaylovka and Kindratovka (all north of Sumy) and has advanced to the north of Andreevka and west of Yablunivka and Kostyantynivka.

Analysts from the Institute note that Russian troops have recently have intensified ground attacks north of Sumy towards Andreevka, as well as northeast of the city towards Yunakovka and Myropylya.

ISW cites Ukrainian military observer Konstantin Mashovets, who reported on June 2 that units of the 18th Motorized Infantry Division (11th Army Corps, Leningrad Military District) and the 177th Marine Regiment (Caspian Flotilla) were fighting along the Konstantinovka-Kindratovka and Volodymyrovka-Oleksievka lines (all north of Sumy).

Mashovets noted that units of the 104th, 234th and 237th Airborne Regiments (all from the 76th Airborne Division of the Russian Airborne Forces) were operating along the Loknya-Yunakovka line and west of Loknya (all northeast of Sumy).

Earlier, Mashovets reported that Russian troops had recently transferred units of the 752nd Motorized Rifle Regiment (3rd Motorized Rifle Division, 20th Combined Arms Army, Moscow Military District) from the Liman direction and the 200th Motorized Rifle Brigade (14th Army Corps, Leningrad Military District) from the Chasov Yar direction to strengthen the Russian grouping in the northern part of Sumy Region.
