Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced the "end of the 12-day war", started by Israel in an address to the nation, quoted by the agencies, BTA reports.
"Today, after heroic resistance by our great nation, whose determination goes down in history, we witnessed the conclusion of a ceasefire and the cessation of this 12-day war imposed by adventurism and provocation" of Israel, Pezeshkian said in his address, which was broadcast on Iranian state television.
"The aggressive enemy failed to achieve its goals of destroying facilities and disrupting nuclear research in Iran, [causing] social unrest [in the republic]", reads a transcript of the speech released by the Iranian president's press service.
Pezeshkian noted that the scale of the destruction in Israel as a result of the Iranian armed forces' retaliatory strikes had shown the world that "the price of this adventure against a great country like Iran is terrible".
The president stressed that he believes in the possibility of peaceful coexistence among the countries of the Middle East. "Our common wisdom and prudence will destroy the plans of the enemies who are trying to sow discord between us," Pezeshkian added.
In addition, the head of state assured that Iranian state services will make every effort to restore the attacked sites and provide assistance to the families of the victims and injured.
